Backgammon is more than just a game. In this day and age, where the future is unpredictable, it is increasingly necessary to have the skills to find challenges, learn, think, judge, and act on one’s own initiative. Through the traditional game of backgammon, in which participants overcome uncertainties such as “luck” and “risk,” they can acquire the skills to survive in the 21st century, including the ability to think logically, respond to risk, GRIT, and a spirit of challenge.

The Japan Backgammon Society has created high quality learning content that will help you improve your skills efficiently. The learning materials are updated regularly, so you can always learn the latest information and tactics.
Daimon-kun, Dab-Dab, and Zorome-chan support your learning with fun conversations, so even those who are new to backgammon can learn with ease.
The dan-kyu system established by the Japan Backgammon Society makes it easier to maintain motivation by allowing players to objectively assess their own skills and growth. It also makes it easier to set goals by providing a clear path for improvement.
Passing certification exams and obtaining PDF certificates gives you a sense of accomplishment; you can also show off your skills by sharing them on social networking sites and connecting with others who share your interests.
Backgammon-Dojo’s online materials are designed for easy viewing on PCs and smartphones, so you can learn at home or on the go whenever you want. In other countries, backgammon has a long history and is widely accepted in society as a culture, and there are many beginners in Japan, but unfortunately this is not the case in Japan. In Japan, there is an imbalance between the world’s top level of backgammon and the number of players, and the number of beginners, which should be the foundation of backgammon, is far fewer than in other countries. In order to solve this problem, the Japan Backgammon Society decided to launch the “Dan-Kyu System” as a tool to nurture beginners, beginners, and intermediate backgammon players in Japan, and to provide a path for them to become stronger while having fun.
The dan/kyu ranking system is an excellent educational management system used in traditional Japanese intellectual games such as Go and Shogi, as well as in the martial arts and performing arts. There are two major advantages to using the dan ranking system. The first is to visualize skills and make it easier for the general public, not just enthusiasts, to understand their abilities. The other is that it forms a foundation to support steady growth by providing step-by-step assignments against objective indicators of ability.
Backgammon-Dojo has designed the course as shown in the figure below, according to the Dan Kyu ranks defined by the Japan Backgammon Society.
Even if you know nothing about backgammon at all, you can effectively learn the minimum required knowledge of basic rules and etiquette by starting with Level 8. For beginners, courses are offered to learn basic tactics (level 7 to 5), and for intermediate players, courses focusing on point matching and the use of doubling cubes (level 4 to 2) are offered. For advanced players, specialized courses (Level 1 and above) will be offered to further improve their skills.
The centerpiece of the Backgammon-Dojo is a certification exam for each course. If you pass the certification exam, you will receive a certificate with your name on it and an official dan/kyu-level certification from the Japan Backgammon Society. Please show off your backgammon skills on SNS and brag to your friends.
Backgammon-Dojo will do its best to support your challenge.
